The design offered reimagined spaces that allowed for greater collaboration and focused study spaces. Features include;

• Teen Maker Spaces and Deck
• Story Time and Puppet Stage
• Flexible Auditorium space
• Art Studios
• Family Career Studio
• Computer/Video Labs
• Flexible Meeting Rooms (24)
• Staff/Support Areas

The new space has allowed the library to deliver more focused programming to the community with dedicated spaces that foster creativity and collaboration. Additionally, the aging infrastructure was renovated to preserve an architectural icon in downtown Columbia.

The design was a collaborative effort led by The Boudreaux Gorup and included McMillan Pazdan Smith and Margaret Sullivan Studios.
