Coastal Carolina Cuts Ribbon on Newly Renovated Soccer Stadium

Coastal Carolina University (CCU) celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Soccer Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event marked a significant milestone in CCU’s commitment to enhancing athletic facilities and providing top-tier resources for its student-athletes.

Located on CCU’s East Campus at 369 Allied Drive, the new complex serves as the home for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. The facility boasts bleacher seating, modern lighting systems, team facilities, restrooms, and ample parking, creating an inviting environment for players and fans alike.

The architectural design was led by BOUDREAUX. The firm focused on delivering a facility that meets the competitive standards of NCAA Division I soccer while reflecting the university’s coastal character. Despite site constraints and budget considerations, the design includes a 750-seat spectator area, a two-story team lounge, coaches’ offices, a press box, and dedicated buildings for public restrooms and storage.

“This new complex not only elevates our soccer programs but also enhances the overall student-athlete experience,” said CCU President Michael T. Benson. “It’s a testament to our dedication to providing premier facilities that foster growth, competition, and community engagement.”

The inaugural matches at the complex featured the women’s team facing Richmond on August 15 and the men’s team competing against the College of Charleston on August 22. Both games commenced at 7 p.m., ushering in a new era for CCU soccer.

The $5 million project was funded through a combination of university resources and private donations, including a significant contribution from former CCU football coach and TD Ameritrade CEO Joe Moglia.
