First Presbyterian Church Myrtle Beach

First Presbyterian Church finds itself at an exciting juncture in its journey, as it embarks on a transformative endeavor to consolidate its spiritual and community activities. Currently, the church operates across two campuses—the historic Kings Campus and the newer Grissom Campus, each serving distinct functions within the community.

The Kings Campus, steeped in history, serves as the primary venue for traditional worship services and Sunday School activities. Its venerable halls have echoed with hymns and prayers for generations, fostering a sense of continuity and tradition within the congregation. Meanwhile, the Grissom Campus, a relatively recent addition, houses the fellowship hall, preschool facilities, and the essential administrative hub that keeps the church’s various operations in harmony.

In a strategic move to streamline their operations and enhance community engagement, First Presbyterian Church built a state-of-the-art facility on the Grissom Campus, designed to be a central hub for all church activities. This ambitious project includes an 900+ seat sanctuary.

In addition to the sanctuary, the new building features an education and music wing, catering to the holistic needs of the community. This innovative design not only facilitates spiritual growth but also provides space for educational programs and musical endeavors, fostering a well-rounded and vibrant community life. The church’s leadership envisioned this new facility as a place where individuals of all ages can find inspiration, learn, and connect with one another.

Architecturally, the new sanctuary is envisioned as a harmonious extension of the existing Grissom Campus, blending seamlessly with the distinguished traditional white brick aesthetic that defines the area. Situated prominently along Robert Grissom Parkway, the new sanctuary serves as a beacon for the congregation and a landmark visible to the broader community—a symbol of faith and community spirit.

The Myrtle Beach architecture firm of Mozingo+Wallace designed the master plan and first phase and the BOUDREAUX team was honored to collaborate with them on this effort. This collaborative design created a space that not only meets the functional needs of the church but also resonates with the spiritual and cultural values of its congregation.
