Historic Taylor House Earns Preservation Honor Award
We were privileged to receive a Preservation Honor Award for the intense historic care taken in rehabilitating the Taylor House at the University of South Carolina. The award was presented to our team by Governor Henry McMaster, the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, and Preservation South Carolina at the State House.
The project’s multi-phased renovations have been a remarkable journey for the Taylor House. Each part of the project presented unique opportunities to peel back the layers of time and thoughtfully restore the building’s original character while adapting it for contemporary use. Throughout every phase, the design team relied on extensive archival research, original construction documents, and collaboration with both the State Historic Preservation Office and the City of Columbia preservation staff. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Taylor House deserved this level of commitment. We continue to celebrate how thoughtful rehabilitation can honor the past while creating meaningful spaces for the future.
