BOUDREAUX understands that a university campus is more than a place of learning – it is a vital part of community life. Our partnership with the University of South Carolina Union reflects this belief, creating a clear roadmap for designing, funding, and implementing projects that strengthen both the campus and its role as a civic and cultural hub for the region.

USC Union Master Plan

While the master plan encompasses all university and commission-owned properties in Union and Laurens, its primary focus is the heart of the downtown Union campus – where the university’s growth is directly tied to the vitality of the city it serves.

Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future

Building on the 2010 Master Plan, this updated vision recognizes past successes while responding to evolving campus and community needs. Informed by years of collaboration and shared priorities, the plan reinforces USC Union’s civic importance and positions the campus to meet future opportunities with clarity and purpose.

A Collaborative Approach

Community engagement was central to the planning process. Campus leadership, faculty, students, and community stakeholders worked together to ensure the university continues to serve as both an educational resource and a community asset. The plan aligns campus goals with civic priorities, identifies key partnerships, and establishes guiding principles that reflect shared values.

Catalyst Projects with Community Impact

The master plan identifies several initiatives designed to benefit both campus life and the broader community, including a multi-purpose Convocation Center, a welcoming Campus Green, expanded dining options, a student health and wellness center, and enhanced campus presence at the Laurens location. Pedestrian-friendly design and cohesive campus branding further support a safe, connected, and inviting environment across Union, Laurens, and Jonesville.

A Shared Civic Vision

The USC Union Master Plan underscores the university’s role as an anchor institution and trusted civic partner. By aligning facilities planning with community priorities, the plan strengthens USC Union’s ability to support academic success while enriching the social, cultural, and economic life of the region.
