Richland County Decker Center | Columbia, SC

Totaling just over 112,000 square feet, a comprehensive programming and needs assessment transformed an existing strip shopping center into a new central courts facility and Sheriff’s Regional Headquarters. The final product fulfilled client aspirations to provide premier customer service, meet the need for efficient courtroom spaces, and establish secure circulations paths for the public, judges and prisoners.

An additional component of the project addressed community concern for proper storm water runoff into the nearby Gill’s Creek Watershed. By incorporating creative solutions, this need was met while also using it as an educational opportunity for the area. Display signage on the property serves as a tool to teach the public about underground systems and how they function.

The project was done in collaboration with Carter Goble Lee.
