At BOUDREAUX, we believe in fostering creativity and team bonding through unique and engaging activities. Every year we host a different themed Design Retreat to stretch our creative muscles. This year our design retreat centered around the art of filmmaking. It was an incredible experience that allowed us to explore new skills, collaborate in innovative ways, and celebrate our collective creativity. Here’s a recap of our memorable retreat:
Act 1: Mastering Filmmaking on Your Phone: Our retreat kicked off with an insightful tutorial on how to use our phones to capture and edit videos. Smartphones have become powerful tools for creating high-quality content, and we wanted to ensure everyone had the skills to make the most of them. We covered the basics of shooting, framing, lighting, and editing, empowering our team to become confident mobile filmmakers.
Act 2: Lee Ann Kornegay on the Power of Film Next, we were honored to have Lee Ann Kornegay as our guest speaker. Lee Ann is renowned for her expertise in film and her ability to convey its profound impact. She shared valuable insights into the power of film as a storytelling medium, discussing best practices for capturing compelling footage and crafting engaging narratives. Her talk inspired us to think deeply about the stories we wanted to tell through our films.
Act 3: Creative Collaboration in Small Groups With newfound knowledge and inspiration, we broke into small groups to put our skills to the test. Each group was tasked with creating a short film showcasing one of our architectural projects. This hands-on experience allowed us to experiment with different filming techniques, angles, and storytelling approaches. It was a fantastic opportunity for team members to collaborate closely, share ideas, and bring our projects to life in a new and exciting way.
Act 4: Screening at the Nickelodeon Theater The highlight of our retreat was undoubtedly the screening of our films at the Nickelodeon Theater. Watching our creations on the big screen was an exhilarating experience. We were all amazed at the creativity and talent displayed by our colleagues. To add to the excitement, we held an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding achievements in filmmaking. Awards were given for Best Director, Best Soundtrack, and Best Movie, making the day even more memorable.
