Creating a Vision for the Future of Anderson Athletics

As Anderson University continues to grow, university leadership recognized the opportunity to strengthen both athletics and student recreation through a long-term vision for the future of campus. The Athletics Master Plan established a framework for future facilities, improved campus connections, and an enhanced experience for student-athletes, spectators, and the broader university community.
Developed through a collaborative planning process and multi-day charrette, the master plan explored how athletics could better support recruitment, campus life, wellness, and community engagement. Recommendations included future varsity athletic facilities, recreation spaces, event venues, and improved pedestrian and bicycle connections between the athletics campus and the main campus.

The plan also focuses heavily on the student and spectator experience. New gateways, sidewalks, and multi-use pathways create safer and more welcoming connections throughout campus while encouraging recreation and everyday activity for both students and the surrounding Anderson community.
Future recommendations included a new track and field stadium, baseball stadium and clubhouse, arena, golf center, indoor tennis courts, recreation facilities, and expanded team support spaces including locker rooms, strength and conditioning, athletic training, and coaching offices. Each element was thoughtfully positioned to support long-term growth while creating a cohesive and connected athletics environment.
More than a facilities study, the Athletics Master Plan establishes a shared vision for how athletics, recreation, and campus life can work together to strengthen community, school spirit, and the future of Anderson University.
